Know about paralysis

Paralysis is loss of action of the muscle or sensory function in the affected area.  It’s usually caused by damage to the central nervous system especially the brain & spinal cord due to CVA, trauma in brain or spinal cord, lower motor nerve damage, polio, multiple sclerosis, etc. . Paralysis can occur partially or fully damage of menus system. It happens - the brain can’t send sensation to the different parts of the body for various causes.
Paralysis of the muscles in face, arm, and leg on one side of the body is called Hemeplagia and usually results from damage to the opposite side of the brain. Paralysis of both lower limbs is called paraplegia, and paralysis of both arms and both legs is called quadriplegia. Paralysis may be temporary or permanent damage, it’s depending on the disease or injury and depending character on the area of damage and where it is occurred.
How does a person become paralyzed?
Stroke: Almost 30 percent of all paralyses are caused by stroke.
Spinal cord injury: It is the second largest cause of paralysis after stroke. Spinal cord injury may occur because of # [fracture] in spinal cord due to motor vehicle accidents, sports injury, congenital deformity, traumatic injury, spinal cord # due to natural disasters, and many other known and unknown causes.
Muscles weakness may occur; Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disorder of the central nervous system. Most people affected with MS, they  will need mobility aids such as wheelchairs or crutches because of fatigue, weakness of  muscles or balance problems.

Cerebral palsy is a kind of brain paralysis. It is congenital disorder that occurs as a result of abnormal development or damage to the parts of the brain. Muscle weakness is a characteristic symptom of the disorder.
Paralysis cause by the poliomyelitis; It is genetic disorder that causes tumors grow around the spinal region. Due to these causes Paralysis may occur, if the nerves of the spinal cord are damaged.
Paralysis may happen due to Traumatic brain injury, which occurs while the head suddenly and violently hits an object, for example a motorbike accident or victim of an assault causing injury to the brain and resulting in partial or permanent nerve damage paralysis.

You may ask – are there chances of recovery from paralysis? The answer is – yes, -Researchers are confident that partial or even complete recovery is possible with some types of paralysis.
How does a paralysis patient recover by physiotherapy management?
The first step in diagnosis of paralysis is physical exam by the doctor such as-
  • X-ray
  • CT scan (Computed tomography)
  • MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scans
  • Electromyography (usually used to diagnose Bell’s palsy) and other valuable pathological tests.
Electro therapy has developed a varies electronic devices these helps recover the nerves functions, and reeducating the muscles functions, Varies kind of exercise in physiotherapy such as active exercise, passive exercise, resistive exercise, isokynetic and isometric exercise etc, already in use for recovery in lower & upper motor paralytic region.
Studies found that successfully recover the partial or complete paralyses are not difficult by physio-management. We can help the patients at your homely atmosphere for domestic re-habilitation. You may contact with us =9434427446
